The nominations are known: the Oscars on the road to change

Dix nominations for Mank by David Fincher, one of the star films of the year (completely skipped at the Golden Globes). Six nominations for Nomadland of Chloé Zhao, big favorite, but also for The Trial of the Chicago 7 Aaron Sorkin, for The Father by Frenchman Florian Zeller and for Sound of Metal, sixth American production of the Belgian production company Caviar (Bert Hamelinck becoming at the same time the first Belgian to be nominated in the Best Picture category, the most prestigious of the ceremony). On the actor side, we find Chadwick Boseman (named posthumously for My Rainey’s Black Bottom), Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins. As for the actresses, Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Vanessa Kirby and Frances McDormand. All in a balance between films produced by “traditional” studios and by platforms.
