The unusual statue of David Apron

Who the hell would want a David statue apron? The statue of David? Well, I’ve heard of the statue of David and I read a really good book once that used the statue of David as a metaphor for carving your own life. Good book! But an apron with the statue of David on it?

I started thinking of all the different reasons someone would want a David statue apron when I realized such a thing existed. Maybe someone who likes art in a big way, particularly Michelangelo. Who thought that Michelangelo only painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? That’s what he’s most famous for, but it wasn’t until I read the book that I realized he sculpted the David. I went to the Sistine Chapel once and there is a statue there that does not have much of a foot left as everyone rubs it when they pass as it is supposed to be good luck.

Who else would wear this apron? And an art teacher? Have you noticed that I always seem to incorporate the word ‘art’? For some reason I can’t see a bricklayer wearing an apron with the statue of David on it! What about people who sculpt or work with clay? Or what about someone who has everything and just wants something a little different?

Now I’m using my imagination, but what about someone who has a replica statue of David in their garden who wants to bring that splendor into their home? Or maybe someone who managed to find the statue of David stamped on the wall tiles and used it in their kitchen? Perhaps the statue of David will become fashionable and you can bring kitchen paper towels or even toilet paper. Now there is a thought! Michelangelo would roll over in his grave!

Perhaps there is a business in the manufacture of products in a range called ‘The David’? What about The David’s washing liquid or bath bubbles, or makeup, and lingerie? David’s bra and panties or maybe David’s foreheads. And how about David’s bedspreads, or better yet … the carpet! Maybe we could make everything up with The David in it, so your whole house could be fitted out?

Actually just a bit of trivia on the David while we’re on the topic and you’re deciding whether to buy a David statue apron … did you know that when Michelangelo carved the David, his head was actually much larger than the rest? from his body? Some creative reasons have been given as to why this is the case, but it is simply because the statue was so tall, that anyone looking at it from its feet would only have seen a kind of pinhead if Michelangelo had not compensated by giving it a great ‘bonce’!

Whatever the reason for you, I know of a place where you can get a David statue apron and it is worth checking out as there is so much information on this and every apron you can think of!
