Therapy, Healing and Spirituality: Part 2 – A New Paradigm for Human Evolution

Question: “How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb?” Answer: “One, but the bulb must Really I want to change! “

I guess it was a lightbulb that I really wanted to change, because the therapy worked for me. This reminds me of a client who came to see me recently and when I asked him if he had been in therapy before, he replied, “Just for two sessions.” Why didn’t the therapy continue? “, Asked.” To be honest, I thought the therapist needed therapy more than I did, “he replied.

Helpers and victims

This is not uncommon. Therapists and other professionals can adopt a practice and pose as assistants to the public while privately offering the service they desire; the helper is really the one who suffers in disguise.

This is one of the lessons of the last 40 years, but there are many more. When I was writing my book, Human Awakening, I wrote about the need to recognize the pitfalls, drawbacks, shortcuts, and cautions of inner work, both psychologically and spiritually. Every time the list got so long, I had to backtrack so that the negative aspects of therapy did not overwhelm me or my readers. In the end I had to opt for a short summary.

Therapy and healing must be real

Those seeking complementary / alternative therapy and healing treatments may be relying on faith, but beneath their innocent hopes, which are sometimes frustrated, there is an instinctive urge. This drive is toward wholeness, whether in personality integration, a holistic approach to illness, or the wise conviction that a connected life is a sane life.

The aspiration for therapy / healing / spirituality is strong; those seeking the benefits of such treatments are essentially sound. But the practitioners, of whom there are now an extraordinary number, require a new paradigm of radical authenticity.

Psychotherapy, healing, and spiritual guidance and practice only become effective when they are real. And they become real when the practitioner practices from an authentic and central place. Personal gain, self-aggrandizement, money, status, manipulation, power and control are not topics that should be left aside, since all of them are relevant for the professional who has some vestige of attachment to the personality ( that is, almost all of us).

Rooted in authenticity

For healing practitioners and therapists to be genuine and deeply rooted in authenticity, they must have gone through the inner journey and achieved the practice of truth. Fundamentally, they should not be attached to the role of psychotherapist, healer, guide, or whatever their title may be. It is a difficult task, but the fruits of successful inner work are excellent, so much can and should be asked of its practitioners. It is important not only on a personal level, but also on a global level, that therapy, inner work, and healing succeed.

Therapy, inner work and alternative / complementary medicine are crucial for the healing and maintenance of the world in general, the one that objectifies and magnifies hostility, violence, dogma, intolerance, prejudice, power. upon others, unjust control, intimidation and terror in the collective: the global arena.

Global consciousness and inner world

When you look around you, next to the creations of nature, you see the results of the creations of man. Everything you see on this level started from within, originated from the inner world. Out of imagination, wish fulfillment, aspiration, ever inspiration and desire, human beings have created the most spectacular and amazing things. What we take for granted today would seem miraculous to us a few years ago.

Not only the miracles of technology, but also the aberrations of war, the callousness of prejudice and victimization: the sum total of inhuman acts from one human being to another, or from a collective of country / nationality, religion, persuasion politics, gender to another. – have arisen from the inner world of individuals and collections of individuals.

So when we consider the practices and personal commitment to familiarize ourselves with and transform the inner world, we must see it for the momentous act that it is. A person who truly commits himself to the path of self-responsibility has a tremendous effect on global consciousness.

Therapy and inner work: hope for the future

Psychotherapy, meditation, inner work, and personal healing are the hope for the future evolution of humanity, because the imbalances and disharmonies in an individual human being are directly reflected in the outer world.

People are basically unhappy in an unhappy world

People are basically unhappy in an unhappy world. In their search, their restlessness and their dissatisfaction, people give away what they really are, how they really feel about their lives and about their world. Since the location and source of happiness is within, only by encouraging people to take personal responsibility for their lives, embark on the inner journey, or the descent into their deep humanity, can we make a real difference.
