Top 3 Tips to Optimize Your iPod Use

  1. Avoid extreme temperatures

Your iPod is a very versatile piece of technology, but it’s not a superstar. By operating within prescribed temperatures, you’ll not only notice a difference, but your iPod will last longer. Your iPod is quite versatile: it can withstand large changes in temperature. Storage temperatures range from -4° to 133° Fahrenheit and operating temperatures range from freezing to 90° Fahrenheit. Most of us don’t get out of these temperatures most days, but your car certainly can. On a sunny 80° day, the interior temperature of your car can exceed 120 degrees. We have 100th day your car can exceed 150°!

  2. Be aware of your battery life
Your iPod uses a lithium-ion battery, which is one of the best batteries on the market. LIBs do not have a built-in load memory, so they can be fully loaded after short uses. It does have a digital memory though, which means it automatically calibrates itself to tell you how much charge is left.

Brief discharges with subsequent recharges do not provide the periodic calibration necessary to synchronize the fuel gauge with the battery’s state of charge. A deliberate full discharge and recharge every 30 charges fixes this issue. Letting the battery drain to the cutoff point on the computer will do this. If ignored, the fuel gauge will become less and less accurate. (Fountain: http://www.BatteryUniverse.com)

  3. Remember: It is an Electrical Device

As elegant and compact as the iPod is, it is still an electrical device and should be cared for as such. That means keeping it away from water and excess moisture as much as possible. You’re probably not stupid enough to take it swimming with you, but even the water vapor from a steamy shower can have adverse effects on your iPod. Also, don’t drop it or let it get knocked into your backpack. Even the smallest bump can ruin your iPod’s electrical system and programming. Also make sure you are safe when you listen to it while exercising. This simple tip will save you from having to search for a professional ipod repair.
