What is transit?
Transite is a fire retardant material that is an ingredient in certain construction products. The material was first created in the 1920s; it was widely used during the 1970s and 1980s and continues to be used today.

What are the risks of transit?
The risk of developing mesothelioma, asbestosis, or silica is rare: most people are not injured by their contact with traffic. However, asbestos is particularly dangerous when inhaled in dust form.
