Travel report from Frankfurt to Moscow

Dear readers,

Welcome to another report of mine!

This time I will show you the service in two European sectors with Swiss.

The route is a simple FRA-ZRH-DME.

To get to Frankfurt I used the train combination again and in the blink of an eye I was in Frankfurt.

Since Swiss uses Terminal 1 in Frankfurt along partners * A, it is only a short walk to Check-In from the train station.

Security this morning at Pier A was a bit crowded, because it was one of the days that LH went on strike. So there was a bit of chaos everywhere.

But after 10 minutes I was in the boarding area and took a leisurely walk to my door.

The flight was completely full, because agents in Frankfurt used all available seats on non-LH flights to remove passengers from FRA.

Very soon our plane went into taxi, and luckily it was one with a special livery, the A320 jet with the StarAlliance logo.

Boarding was announced shortly thereafter and finished in about 15 minutes.

Even if it was a fully packed cabin, everything went quickly and smoothly.

After a short taxi, we took the air for the short drive to Zurich.

The service on this flight was just a canned orange juice.

Very soon we started the approach to Zurich and landed after less than 45 minutes in sunny Switzerland.

I had around 2 hours in Zurich so I headed to the non-Schengen gates and relaxed there until boarding was announced.

Instead of the old cabin as in the previous FRA-ZRH flight, this flight to Moscow was operated by one of 320 refurbished ones, with also the so-called NEK cabin, which was first introduced by its parent airline Lufthansa.

Although in my opinion the seats are a bit harder than the old ones, the legroom is usually excellent, thanks to the very slim seats.

The captain announced the flight time as a little over 3 hours and after a short queue, it was our turn to take off. This flight was 80% full.

After that, I just relaxed a bit to some good music, and soon the descent to Moscow Domodedovo airport began. After around 3:15 we landed on time.

On the way to the gate, you could see the famous Domodedovo cemetery with many interesting planes.

Conclusion:

Overall the experience with Swiss was fine. The flights were punctual and the service was good for the length of the sectors. I think the only improvement would be to offer a larger main meal and smaller sides, not the other way around.
