Kenting National Park is a great coastal getaway. With 152 square kilometers of sea surrounding the park, it is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sea air. Its beaches are also great for boat rides, diving, and water sports. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained while at the park.

The area is also ideal for exploring on a scooter. You can hire one on the main street of Hengchun and in Kenting Old Town. If you prefer electric scooters, you can also rent them, but remember to change the batteries every 30 km. The park is large and you will need at least two days to explore it completely.

If you want to see more wildlife, you can visit the Kenting National Forest Recreation Area, the only tropical botanical garden in Taiwan. It is home to thousands of plants and has adequate resources for tropical animals. During the spring and autumn, you can see migratory birds roosting in the area.

If you are traveling from Kaohsiung, there are frequent buses that travel to Kenting. These buses depart every fifteen minutes. It takes about an hour and a half, one-way. Alternatively, you can rent a car and drive to Kenting National Park. The drive is 107 km and takes about one hour and forty-five minutes.

If you’re looking for a place to stay while you explore the Kenting National Park, stay in the main town, Hengchun. This historic town is home to several ancient city gates, which still command a dramatic presence. Stay at the FFF Hotel, which is located just 730 metres from the bus station. The hotel also has a restaurant and an outdoor play area for kids.

What to Do in Kenting National Park

For food, Kenting offers many restaurants and cafes that serve Chinese, Thai, and seafood dishes. The area is also popular for tourists and every plot of land is being converted into a hotel. The newer hotels tend to be more luxurious, but the older ones will be more affordable. Make sure to check the construction before choosing a hotel.

If you love the water, Kenting’s Bai Sha Beach offers great opportunities for water sports. You can rent paddleboards and snorkeling equipment to explore the coast. Another area popular for water sports is Maobitou Park, home to some of the country’s largest coral sculptures. The park also offers great views of the ocean.

If you’re interested in hiking or exploring, you can head to the Kenting National Forest Recreation Area. This area is home to a variety of unique wildlife and plants. It has seventeen scenic spots that are connected by designated walking trails. Other highlights of the park include the 400-year-old Looking-glass Tree and the Fairy Cave. You can also explore the area’s underwater caves, which contain stalactites.

Travel to Kenting National Park from Taipei by taking the HSR high-speed train, which will take about 1.5 hours. The cost of the ticket is NT$410 one-way and NT$650 round-trip. Once you reach the park, you can either join an organized tour, bike around the park, or take a hop-on-hop-off bus.
