A look at the three strikes plagiarism rule at your kids’ school

Why do so many kids cheat these days at school? Are they under too much stress to succeed, are we teaching them the wrong way, are they just bored, angry and don’t care? Or is it their role models taking steroids in sports, businessmen involved in fraud, or our political leaders lying to us to get votes? Worst of all, since we turn to society for all these jobs and other jobs like police, military, government workers, etc., soon these kids will be adults and so will they still cheat then?

What is wrong with our society? And speaking of cheating, most kids now go online and take someone else’s work, plagiarize it, and turn it in. Are they doing this in elementary school, middle school, high school, college and many continue to do important research and cheat there too? Some schools and universities have adopted a “three strikes rule” for plagiarism, and yet one has to wonder why.

Why award kids 3 strikes?

Why not kick them out of school on the first strike or offense, or suspend them from school the first time, and if “See You” happens again you can never come back and lose your tuition? Personally, as a writer, I am constantly contacted by professors and teachers from all over the country to ask me about something I wrote to make sure I really wrote it, because some student swears I didn’t plagiarize it. We have copyright laws in this nation, and they should apply to everyone. Please consider this.
