Exercise is one of those things you either love or hate. We know we have to do it, but for some of us it’s more of a struggle than a fun activity. When we are interested in exercise to lose weight, it is very common to become addicted to cardio. It is generally assumed that the more cardio you do, the faster you will lose weight. This is not necessarily the case. Yes, cardio can help with weight loss, but too much can also damage your muscles.

interval training – This type of exercise incorporates cardio along with rest periods to burn fat more efficiently. This means saving the muscle mass you have while burning tons of calories. You can do interval training using free weights or walking and running. You can perform intervals on cardio equipment like treadmills and ellipticals. You can also combine weights with bodyweight routines.

Any form of exercise can be done for as little as 30 to 45 minutes a day if you’re short on time. That means less exercise time and you’ll still receive the benefits.
