The effects of excess abdominal fat on the heart

It seems that more people are walking around with some type of extra belly fat on their body. Not too many people are comfortable walking around in a half-shirt to show off their abs when there’s an extra bulge. People not only become fat conscious but it can also affect your heart.

Everyone is born with fat in the abdominal area. It is not the fat that actually covers a person’s abs. This fat is better known as subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat rests under the skin and over the abdominal muscles.

Even deeper in the abdominal area is a second fat called visceral fat. Visceral fat is found around the organs of the body that lie under the muscles. When people have what is known as a beer belly, it is due to visceral fat.

When any of these fats get out of control in the abdomen area, there will be health problems for a person. The risks are very high for diabetes to start, blood pressure can rise, heart problems will develop, stroke, lack of sleep and different types of cancer to name a few.

When people notice a lump starting in the intestinal area, they need to get the problem under control before it gets out of control. Losing belly fat is never easy and it will take some work before a difference is noticeable. There are two things that go hand in hand when it comes to getting back to a great abdominal area. A healthy diet and exercise will help the fat disappear so that the person is not at high risk factor for health problems.

People will have to stop eating fast food that is dripping with fat and start eating more vegetables, fruits and smaller portions of food. Your tummy may growl between meals, but instead of reaching for a bag of chips, grab an apple. Eating healthy is hard, but over time it will become second nature and people will start to feel better about their health.

To lose abdominal fat there must be a good exercise program. The exercise can be done in the comfort of home or in the gym. Don’t think a million crunches is all the work you’ll have to do. Before a person can build a tummy and have those much sought after abs, the fat will have to come out first.

Before starting any exercise or diet program, always consult a doctor first. The doctor can guide a person on how much exercise can be done safely to begin with.
