This godly leader would be able to spell success using the word teamwork: what an example!

Nehemiah’s organizational ability to lead the people, as well as to rebuild what had been destroyed, is amazing. It’s amazing how this godly leader was also so successful when it came to management and teamwork. Almighty God used him to organize the rebuilding and restoration of the walls of Jerusalem.

They all got involved in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.

Nehemiah appoints about forty section leaders. Here is a man who knew how to delegate with responsibility and authority. Read the exciting account of how he accomplished this enormous task.

Eliashib, the High Priest, sets the example by beginning at the Sheep Gate, where the sheep were brought for sacrifice. The priests could easily have absolved themselves of the obligation to work on the wall.

An important principle of leadership is to work together with everyone else.

Even the perfumer’s daughters lent a hand without a “How about my nails!”

One group did not get involved. The Tekoa nobles refused to participate. Did they consider this job to be beneath them? Were they too proud to be associated with Nehemiah’s project?

The common men of Tekoa must have been a bit embarrassed because they decided to take an extra shift.

This account of the work on the walls is not just a colorless memorandum of assignments, but a record of how God used all kinds of people.

Peter emerged as a powerful leader in the Church of Jesus Christ, and one of the most unlikely characters, Paul, knew how to appoint leaders who would give strong, solid leadership and we have the essential qualifications for those men who would become elders.

Elders, pastors, bishops, overseers, overseers, are simply different translations of the Greek words used for recognized spiritual leaders.

When the walls of Jerusalem were being rebuilt, there were people next to everyone else.

We need that too. When we stumble and fall, we need someone by our side to help us up and if someone by our side falls, he should know that we are a crutch available.

With Nehemiah, success could be spelled teamwork.
