Vancouver’s Stanley Park to become Jurassic Park

Famed for being one of the largest inner-city parks of any city in the world, Vancouver’s majestic Stanley Park may soon return to the Jurassic era. If the Vancouver Park Board approves a proposal that may be based on the film Jurassic Park then Stanley Park will be transformed. The Vancouver Park Board will review a proposal to install up to 30 robotic dinosaurs in Stanley Park. The proposed location for these robot dinosaurs is near the miniature train ride.

Tourists visiting Stanley Park are against any idea of changing the park’s natural beauty by installing man-made dinosaur effigies. Many visitors feel that this would detract from the park’s serene tranquility and turn the park into an amusement attraction. Today, visitors are drawn to the park for its natural beauty. Stanley Park stands as an oasis amid towers of steel and concrete. Parks board vice president Korina Houghton said: “We don’t want a tacky amusement park ride. But one of our goals is to engage families and kids. I’d like to see if there’s an educational component.”

The Parks Board is considering ways to increase tourism revenue from the park. It is believed that by building such an attraction, Stanley Park could attract up to 400,000 more paying visitors. It has always been known for its natural beauty: towering mountains, clean air, and peaceful beaches. The introduction of a Jurrasic Park-style theme park can lead to the transformation of the city so that it eventually becomes a commercial tourist attraction like Orlando or Anaheim.
